common denominator.
i’m a firm believer in setting goals, which give us a basis on which to measure progress (or lack thereof!). but i wouldn’t say that i am a strictly goal-driven person. and please… don’t graph it out or put it in a spreadsheet for me, unless you are intentionally aiming to overwhelm me or you have a paper bag handy to help aid my hyperventilation.
i learned pretty early that setting standards is a healthy practice and to go through life without any expectations at all robs both you and those you encounter of something very special: intention. how can you develop healthy relationships and a god-honoring lifestyle without deliberately being intentional with your time and resources?
the world is full of a variety of different people. but we all have lists. we all have goals. we all have standards. i really don’t think i’ll ever be the one coming up with some sort of new technology or a brilliant business plan, but the lord has challenged me recently to look ahead… what are my expectations of the future?
[of the next 28 years of my life?]
[of the man i will marry?]
[of the foundation on which my family will be built?]
what are your goals for the future? what are you expecting?
