survey sunday
honestly, i’ve grown a lot since high school. thank goodness!
1. Who was your best friend? my best friends at school were macy and lessie… although i didn’t socialize much in high school. wait, did i just say i didn’t socialize much? i meant AT ALL. i only hung out with my friends from church, which is one of my biggest regrets.
2. Did you play any sports? i played tennis for a year… does that make me an athlete? i always wanted to be an athlete!
3. What kind of car did you drive? oh, lord. i had a sky blue 1977 chevy nova that i affectionately named smitty. why? because the lady that died and left me the car was named smitty… and that also happened to be the nickname of my favorite christian recording artist at the time. ha! the car was old and quirky… i had to pump the gas pedal three times and turn the ignition halfway, while holding the has pedal down halfway to get it to start. we had a mutual hate/hate relationship.
4. It’s Friday night. Where were you? somewhere with my youth group, i’m sure. i rarely went to football games… my senior year, we won the state championship and i only went to one game. what was i thinking?!?
5. Were you a party animal? heck no… i was way too scared to try anything like that. i think i went to one or two school dances after the football games, but i just hugged the wall. lame.
6. Were you considered a flirt? probably not. i was a total introvert and i didn’t even talk to people at school.
7. Were you in the band, orchestra or choir? no… that meant i would have to socialize!
8. Were you a nerd? yes, by all means.
9. Were you ever suspended or expelled? nope.
10. Can you sing the fight song? there was a fight song?!?
11. Who was your favorite teacher? ms. tompkins… she believed in me and encouraged me, despite all my backwardness. i also loved mr. offitt. i still can’t figure out why.
12. What was your school mascot? the devils… and i never bought a tshirt or anything that had “devils” written on it because i was convinced that it would bring additional spiritual warfare. (sadly, i’m not kidding.)
13. Did you go to the Prom? no, but i did go to “prom preference” with my church group. once again, lame.
14. If you could go back, would you? heck no… but i would change a few things if i had the chance.
15. What do you remember most about graduation? feeling relieved.
16. Where were you on Senior Skip Day? at school. ha. lame X3.
17. Did you have a job your senior year? yes, at linens ‘n things. i loved that job!
18. Where did you go most often for lunch? either sonic or de la paz.
19. Have you gained weight since then? yeppers… but i was ridiculously skinny in high school. i needed it!
20. What did you do after graduation? partied with my friends and family.
21. What year did you graduate? 1998
22. Who was your Senior Prom Date? jesus. ha ha ha-sadly, i really would have told you that when i was in high school.
23. Are you going/did you go to your 10 year reunion? i’m thinking about it, but it really depends on where i’m living… i’d like to go, but i’m not going to make a special trip back to tn for a reunion.
24. What is your biggest regret in high school? being such an introvert and not having relationships with the people that i spent 8 hours a day with for 4 years. man, talk about a missed opportunity.
goodness. a lot of things change in 10 years. for that, i’m thankful.
